Social Exclusion, Subjective Academic Success, Well-Being, and the Meaning of Trust

Abstract. This article uses a person-environment fit perspective to investigate whether and how educational background general trust are related (or not) with university life as well criteria of subjective academic success well-being. To analyze students perceive their university, we measured perception exclusion affective commitment. The sample includes N = 424 from two German universities, about half whom have at least one parent tertiary education. results show that especially is the success, this relationship mediated by exclusion, on hand, commitment, other hand. A comparison mediators shows particularly potent in terms predicting satisfaction coping study demands We discuss significance future diversity management universities for overcoming social inequality increasing inclusion.
